what is 100 format in cricket

What exactly is The Hundred format and rules?

How many balls are there in The Hundred? The answer lies in the title! Each team will be bowling 100 cricket balls (compared to 120 balls in T20 cricket) and instead of six balls, it will be ten balls one row for each. The motivation behind this quirk is to speed up play, meaning a match will take no longer than two-and-a-half-hours.

After one team has bowled 100 balls, they change to batting and then play 100 balls. The team that has scored many runs is the winner of the game. Simple.

Bowlers can throw five or 10 balls in succession, and they can only deliver over 20 or more balls for each match.

A 25-ball powerplay between each team begins at the beginning of each game, meaning that two fielders will be allowed to leave the 30-yard circle that is initially set up during the powerplay.

What teams and who are currently in The Hundred?

The Hundred includes a male and female tournament with seven teams from eight cities competing for the chance to be named the champion at the conclusion of the month-long celebration.

In each event the teams compete against each other at home at home and on the road in the first round of 32 matches. The team that finishes first advances to the final , while teams in the teams that finish second and third in the table play against one another in a single elimination match to qualify for the final finale.
