ACA announces ‘Andhra Premier League’: Starts from 6th July
Matches will begin on June 22. Players to be auctioned in the same way as IPL
The Andhra Cricket Association will host the Andhra Premier League for men and women, following the model of the Tamil Nadu Premier League.
Satya Prasad Yachendra, chairman of the APL Governing Council, addressed the media in Mumbai on April 8. He stated that the Men's APL would take place with six teams at the YSR ACA VDA Stadium in the city.
From June 28 through July 3, the Women's APL will be held with four teams. The league matches for the Women's APL will be held in Vizianagaram. However, Visakhapatnam would host the finals.
The finals will be played on 17th July and these matches will be live-streamed on Star Sports where the scoring will be done by CricHeroes.
Floodlights
The Men's APL would have 19 matches. Two of these matches would be played daily from 9 a.m. until 12.30 p.m., and 1.30 to 5 p.m. Each day, the top four teams would play the next round. These matches would be held under floodlights, from 6 p.m. until 9.30 p.m.
The Women's APL will also have two matches per day. The final would take place on the third of July in Visakhapatnam.
Satya Prasad stated that the Men's APL will be telecast and streamed via OTT. He said that the APL for women could be viewed via the OTT platform. According to Mr. Satya Prasad, negotiations were underway to find OTT and broadcasting partners.
Further, Mr. Satyaprasad stated that there were three zones within the ACA, each with two teams.
Auctions would be held to acquire players and create a team, much like the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that each franchisee would be given a kitty in order to buy the players.
The league will feature around 500 Andhra players. Mr. Satyaprasad stated that each team can take 20 players.
ACA Treasurer and a member on the APL Governing Council S.R. Gopinath Reddy stated that the goal was to provide the best platform possible for players.
The APL will provide a platform for our players to be promoted and to show their talent. The league will also be financially beneficial to both franchisees and players. Advertisements can also generate revenue. Sponsors stand to benefit," Mr. Gopinath said.

"All matches are free," said Mr. Gopinath, adding that he had asked the District Collector and the Police Commissioner to help the ACA succeed.
M.V., Chief Executive Officer of ACA. Siva Reddy, chief executive officer of ACA, said they will also host an NCA camp at Anantapur in June and inter-NCA matches at Vijayawada in June.
"Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohanreddy has given his support to the ACA," he said.
Former Ranji player, the Director, Cricket Operations, Visakhapatnam district Cricket Association, R.V.C.H. Prasad, and G.V.V.V., a former Ranji player, were present. Gopala Raju and Prasad were also present.
